This opportunity is open to members and non-members, pending completion of training. Volunteers attend events to register new voters, update voter registrations, or help people apply for mail-in ballots. We also answer questions on voter registration and voting and pass out information materials. These are good opportunities to recruit new League members and raise the visibility of the League within the community.

Events are held mainly in spring through fall and typically last two to four hours.

This opportunity is open to members only. The Candidate Forums Coordinator will track forums organized by chapters and assist the Voter Service Director with organizing forums not covered by chapters. Members of the Printed Voter Guide committee will help create content for the printed voter guide, pick-up guides from the printer, distribute the guides to members and our partners, or help organize and track  distribution. Volunteer with our partner, the Ohio Voter Rights Coalition, to help make sure Ohio voters have the information they need in order to cast their ballot. Opportunities include Election Protection Ambassador, Poll Monitor, Social Media Monitor, Command Center Volunteer, or Text Banking Volunteer.

Election Protection

This opportunity is open to members and non-members. Committee responsibilities include observing meetings of the Board of Elections, helping recruit poll workers, and maintaining a working relationship with the Board of Elections. Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee serves the vital role of identifying and recruiting members from across all of LWVGC’s chapters to serve in board positions that will be vacant by the time of the next Annual Meeting (May). This committee is most active in late winter – Spring. Rare instances may arise when the committee may be called upon by the board in the middle of the fiscal year if an elected board member becomes unable to serve the remainder of their term.

Budget and Investment Committees

The Budget Committee reviews the current fiscal year’s budget for the LWVGC’s operating budget and education fund and develops recommended budgets for both accounts which are reviewed by the board and approved at the next Annual Meeting.

The Investment Committee reviews existing investments held by the LWVGC and provides recommendations to the board as it relates to maintaining investments, allocations, and recommended investment opportunities.

While a sense for numbers and, for the latter committee, investment is valuable, no specific previous experience is necessary to serve on either committee. Historically, both committees have met once a year. In the future, either committee may be called upon by the board if there is a pressing issue that before the board that would benefit from or requires input from either committee.
