Project Goals

This learning experience is designed to support the League of Women Voters of Greater
Cleveland’s commitment to inclusive civic engagement and community partnerships by
equipping and empowering volunteers with the skills to effectively engage with the communities
that the organization serves. It will cover training in the following competencies:

• Recognize the difference between transactional outreach & relationship-centered engagement.
  
  
• Enhance volunteer readiness for survey administration & community outreach efforts
  
  
• Understand history & contemporary factors that contribute to trust & mistrust within
  communities.
  
  
• Develop a deeper understanding of cultural humility & its role in community engagement.
  
  
• Increase awareness of implicit bias and understand how assumptions, perceptions, &
  unconscious attitudes can influence community interactions, trust-building efforts,
  and civic engagement outcomes.
  
  
• Learn strategies for engaging residents through an asset-based lens.
