We chose to sponsor the film A Girl Named C at the 43rd Cleveland International Film Festival this year. A Girl Named C was chosen because it is an American documentary that deals with an issue we support:
“Children have the right to bodily safety and integrity; freedom from physical and mental abuse; mental and physical care; drug and alcohol treatment; an education appropriate to the child’s intellectual, emotional, and physical capacities…” – LWVO Policy Position
A description of the film can be found at https://www.clevelandfilm.org/films/2019/a-girl-named-c
The film is being shown Saturday, March 30 at 4:00PM and Sunday, March 31 at 2:40 PM, both showings at Tower City Cinemas. Tickets are required and can be purchased online at www.clevelandfilm.org, by calling 877.304.3456, or visiting at the box office. When buying tickets use the discount code LWVGC to get $1 off the ticket purchase of any film, and to credit LWVGC.
If you would like to speak before a showing of the film, we are allotted up to one minute as part of the pre-film announcements and can also bring LWVGC materials (membership brochures and LWVGC forum flyers) and distribute them up to 30 minutes after the film. Please let Becky Thomas know if you are interested in introducing our organization before the film by contacting her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
